Beautiful Newborn Photography in Hampshire

I had the honour of photographing this beautiful baby girl on her one week birthday in her home with her mummy and toddler sister in Portsmouth this week.I love using natural light for newborn photography and using props where needed to show the tiny frame of the baby. It is wonderful to be part of capturing and telling a baby’s story right from the beginning and the earlier the better when they are still so sleepy and unperturbed by their surroundings. The “Watch Me Grow Package” which we do is a perfect way to do this . See : http://www.naomilloyd.co.uk/maternity_and_newborns.html

Outdoor family portrait shoots in Hampshire

What a lovely mild winter we are having.I love the gardens of Stansted House near Rowlands Castle for photographing children and had some fun on Sunday capturing the energy of some very happy wrapped up little ones. Have a look at more of my work on family and children portraiture on this link:

The magic of children at a wedding

I have to admit Julian and I did not invite all children to our wedding eight years ago.( can’t believe it is that long ago- Julian says he still like me too!).

I completely understand why people choose to do or not to do. Our little nieces who did attend ours managed to make as much noise as possible during the vows-which we of course can laugh about now.

However, I have just been looking through some new marketing materials and reflecting on recent weddings and have rediscovered some little gems that only children can create.
What must the fun and festivities of a wedding mean to young children and the concept of a bride and groom? Our own little boy who is now six has recently declared his thoughts on marriage….apparently you need to find someone when you are older who looks like you and then you can marry her! Magic!

Here are some gems from 2011:

Christmas Family Portraits

I had a lovely time capturing the inspirational Nzegwu family last week with their four children under the age of four – cue lots of “funny” dancing and funny faces by me and lots of making dens and some great results. Exhausting but really lovely.

Beautiful wedding at The Tithe Barn, Petersfield in lovely autumn sunshine

When Sarah and Mike booked us to photograph their November wedding at the beautiful Tithe Barn in Petersfield, we never imagined the weather would be so amazing. Sarah looked radiant in her organza dress with lots of sparkle and was a dream to photograph lying on her bed before the ceremony with the sunlight peeping through her blinds to create a lovely effect on her face and very warm light.
The Tithe Barn in Petersfield never disappoints in all weather conditions but this wedding was a real treat as we managed to create some lovely silhouettes and romantic low lying sunshine shots of the bride and groom with the barn in the backgrounds.
It was not long though before the twinkle lights lit up on the trees as the sun dropped and we couldn’t resist in getting the sparklers out – we loved the results!
Happy Honeymoon Sarah and Mike!

Commissioning a professional photographer for your profile photographs

I have noticed an increasing number of requests for me to take some portrait photographs for the purposes of social media and business networking. We all know that first impressions do count and when it comes to social media a photograph will be your chance to create not just a good but an excellent first impression. Where people are looking to network professionally for their businesses, whether through sites such as Linked In, Facebook or twitter, a professional photograph can be what draws people to your profile rather than being passed over.
I believe outdoor photographs on location are even better than studio portraits for catching people’s eye and look just as professional if not more so. It does not have to be weather dependent as a good photographer will know where to look for top shade and excellent natural light. There are lots of great locations in and around Southsea and Portsmouth for taking professional profile photographs.

I believe outdoor photographs on location are even better than studio portraits for catching people’s eye and look just as professional if not more so. It does not have to be weather dependent as a good photographer will know where to look for top shade and excellent natural light throughout all the seasons. There are lots of great locations in and around Southsea,Portsmouth and indeed all over Hampshire for taking professional profile photographs.

An outdoor beach portrait can also be a much more impressive or warmer approach if you are looking for some beautiful portraits for meeting someone through a dating website as well. Ever heard someone say “You look better in person”? The experts in online dating will always advise that the single most important factor in attracting the quality singles you want to meet is having a great photograph.

If you are posting an uncomfortable, blurry or dark photograph that makes you look twenty years older you are not just doing yourself a disservice but also your potential partner who may pass over your photo but would have definitely turned twice if he/she had seen you in person.

In both cases, whether for a professional business profile or for a dating website, we can look at creating you a set of portraits that will really present the picture you need. The idea is to show the personality that we have naturally, not to pose you in an uncomfortable position. The majority of us feel that we do not take a good photograph and that is where choosing a photographer who can help you enjoy having your photograph taken will make a world of difference both in business networking and personally.

From as little as £40 for a bespoke beach/location shoot we can create a really amazing portrait shoot for you.

A beautiful English and Belgian wedding at the stunning Clock Barn in Hampshire

Johan and Lisa met whilst travelling the world but the fact that Johan lived in Belgium and Lisa in England did not stop this lovely couple making a life together and finally settling in England. They chose the stunning Clock Barn in Whitchurch near Winchester for their October wedding with a vintage tea theme and some Belgian chocolates as their favours.
The Clock Barn is a perfect setting for a very classy
english country wedding and the neighbouring fields providing a really romantic setting for some romantic photographs of the couple.

Beautiful New Forest Wedding at Careys Manor

We love photographing weddings in the beautiful New Forest and we feel fortunate to live so close to such an amazing part of England. Hannah and Adam chose the stunning Carey’s Manor for their wedding and we were the lucky photographers to capture their special day.
Hannah looked breathtaking and was an incredibly calm and smiley bride in the morning and don’t think there was a dry eye in the room when she walked down the aisle with her 5 year old brother Flynn.

Lovely Family Portsmouth Wedding with an amazing array of vehicles

St Johns Cathedral in Portsmouth was the stunning setting for Gemma and Jon’s wedding and it wasn’t only the bride who turned up in style. Both Gemma and Jon arrived in their respective Hummers with their families and members of the wedding party all able to enjoy the pre-wedding celebrations.

Once again, I managed to get myself a ride as well – never one to miss a perfect opportunity to capture the moments before the ceremony. I travelled with Gemma and her family and had the opportunity to capture the couple’s lovely two boys, Blake and Riley in their gorgeous suits enjoying the ride over totheir parent’s wedding.
The sun was shining which allowed us the seize the opportunity for some wedding photographs on Southsea beach with Gemma and Jon and their little boys before travelling over to the reception at The Royal Maritime Club in Portsmouth.

Thank you to Gemma and Jon for letting us share their lovely day.

Spectacular Wedding at Oakley Hall in Basingstoke

Sarah and Bryn may have started their wedding day with a lot of rain pounding down but the sunshine came bursting out as soon as they were pronounced husband and wife at their stunning wedding venue, Oakley Hall in Basingstoke.
From the beautiful library and drawing rooms where the ceremony took place through to the lavish marquee reception, it was a gorgeous wedding all the way through.
It was a relief that the weather did dry up in time for afternoon photographs as the view from the front of the house was just spectacular and the light was wonderful to play with as the new husband and wife cuddled up to each other.
I am also loving the reception ideas to have sweetie tables and the adults love helping themselves as much as the children do as well as the personalised casino money. It all adds some lovely touches to what was a wonderful wedding day.
